1 Day, 20 Photos

I saw this on another site once and thought I’d give it a go. I was going to put descriptions in each photo to better explain but I’m leaving them as is for you to like or dislike. What I will tell you is, that’s this is what I saw from morning to night on a random day and as you’ll see the weather is ever changeable in Ireland. Almost all the seasons in one day. And one final note. The one of the fire was included in a Gizmodo.com shooting challenge. To say I was delighted, was an understatement.

Mr Sandman bring me a Dream

Anyone else have a problem with sleeping?. I’m not talking about Insomnia more leaning towards Narcalepsy. I’m not falling asleep in my standing, it’s almost as soon as my head hits the pillow. Richie thinks I’ve a problem! I never did before but I guess I can throw it out there.

I start work at 7:30am which usually means I’m leaving the house at 6:15ish in the morning. Come around 8pm – 10pm, I’m starting to fade. Richie needs (or well prefers) to watch something to help him fall asleep. I on the other hand prefer to have lights out and silence. Not that having the TV or laptop on would annoy me totally. When I’m tired, I’ll sleep.

Richie prefers to lie in, in the morning. Me? I’m an early bird and find it hard to stay in the bed. He’d be able to sleep on a bed of nails. I need a bit more comfort than that. I expect he gets that from his Army career. While overseas or out on excercises, I suppose you need to grab sleep whenever and wherever you can.

That may all change in the coming weeks. Richie’s barracks have moved so he’s has starting getting up that bit earlier.

At home, I’m the more regimented one with my sleep patterns and kinda stick to a sub-consicous schedule. It would be rare for me nap during the day. At night, Richie could fall into a deep sleep. I’m a light sleeper and when disturbed would spring up from the bed, alert and wondering if there’s something wrong. On the less regular occurances where I’m awoken gently, I tend to be very narky. It’s obvious who gets the brunt of my petulance.

I can’t comprehend why other people can stay in bed for so long in the morning and be able to get back to sleep. I feel like I’m wasting the day.

Recently I discovered this article. It’s about segmented sleep patterns and how in history humans used to have 2 sleeps and wake up for a few hours between them, each night. It’s really interesting and worth the read. I had a first and second sleep the other night and I’m as fresh as a daisy. I think there’s a lot of worth in the article. Let me know what you think of it id really like to hear from you if it’s regular for you to have 2 sleeps. I might try and change my routine a bit. The question is, what to do with that time between sleeps? Blog, watch tv, visit friends? Unlikely if none of them are awake. There are other options but I’ll let you read them in the article.
